USAID Priority Country TB Roadmaps, Fiscal Year 2021

Speeches Shim

Tuberculosis (TB) is a curable disease, yet it remains the leading infectious disease killer worldwide taking the lives of an estimated 4,000 people each day. The emergence and transmission of drug-resistant TB (DR-TB) threatens the overall progress on TB prevention and care; only one in five individuals with DR-TB are starting treatment, and just over half of those are being cured.

With support from U.S. Congress and the American taxpayer, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is working with partner countries to further progress on their Journey to Self-Reliance and combating TB to create healthy, resilient, and productive citizens. The Agency is working with partners around the world to support the strategy to reach every person with TB, cure those in need of treatment, and prevent the spread of new infections and the progression to active TB disease.
