Social health insurance (SHI) has played a key role in the successful transition of Vietnam’s HIV response from the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) to local support. As local governments, organizations and people living with HIV assume greater responsibility paying for HIV services, improving SHI and HIV service efficiency are vital.

HỒ CHÍ MINH, 12/6/2017 – Hôm nay, lãnh đạo và cán bộ cấp cao của Bộ Y tế, Đại sứ quán Hoa Kỳ, tổ chức PATH, chính quyền thành phố, các tổ chức cộng đồng, các công ty tư nhân và những người nổi tiếng đã tham gia Lễ khởi động chính thức dịch vụ dự phòng trước phơi nhiễm HIV (PrEP) tại Việt Nam. Sự kiện được mong chờ và mang tính truyền thông này đánh dấu bước tiến quan trọng của Việt Nam trong chiến lược nhằm giảm các ca nhiễm HIV mới.
Tổ chức Bảo tồn Thiên nhiên Quốc tế (IUCN) phối hợp cùng Tập đoàn Bhaya, Công ty Coca-Cola Việt Nam và Ủy ban Nhân dân thành phố Hạ Long tổ chức chương trình thu gom rác trên biển với chủ đề “Liên minh Hành động vì một Hạ Long xanh”. Đây là hoạt động nằm trong khuôn khổ dự án Liên minh Hạ Long – Cát Bà, một sáng kiến được thực hiện trong ba năm với sự tài trợ của Cơ quan Phát triển Quốc tế Hoa Kỳ (USAID).
The USAID/Vietnam team recently completed a midpoint review of our five year country development cooperation strategy for Vietnam. The strategy, developed in 2013, is a blueprint for our cooperation with the Government of Vietnam (GVN), local stakeholders and international partners to advance Vietnam’s transformation into a responsible, more inclusive partner. Key developments since the launch of our strategy – a new SocioEconomic Development Plan (SEDP), the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the release of the Vietnam 2035 Report – indicate that our priorities are still aligned with host country goals. But our review also demonstrated that we need to amplify activities in sustainable growth, environment and local partnerships to achieve our development objectives: (1) enhanced governance for broader-based sustainable growth, (2) improved health and well-being, and (3) legacies addressed for stronger U.S.-Vietnam partnership.
