On October 11-13, MOST and USAID’s Governance for Inclusive Growth Program held a consultative workshop with representatives from 14 ministries, the Office of the Government, and business associations, to review, consolidate, and simplify the list of “Group-2 commodities” and to review regulations for the quality assessment of import and export commodities.

Last week, USAID’s Building University-Industry Learning and Development Through Innovation and Technology (BUILD-IT) Alliance wrapped up a series of workshops and coaching sessions that were conducted over the last two months. Nearly 450 higher education professionals from all parts of the country participated in these workshops and coaching sessions in Da Nang, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

From October 16-20, five Harvard Medical School experts trained 200 faculty members from medical schools in Hai Phong, Hue, Thai Nguyen, and Ho Chi Minh City. These medical schools are partners of USAID’s Improving Access, Curriculum and Teaching in Medical Education and Emerging Diseases (IMPACT MED) Alliance, which is revamping medical education curriculum and teaching approaches to produce graduates with the skills and knowledge to address current and future health challenges.

Vietnam has tremendous potential solar energy resources and its Power Development Plan calls for 20,000 megawatts of renewable energy by 2030. This transition in the energy sector creates a new market for modern technologies as well as supportive business opportunities. In addition to helping the Vietnamese Government establish effective policies that attract private sector investment for renewable energy, USAID’s Vietnam Low Emission Energy Program (V-LEEP) also aims to help private companies finance, create and build renewable energy projects.
