Last week, USAID’s Building University-Industry Learning and Development Through Innovation and Technology (BUILD-IT) Alliance wrapped up a series of workshops and coaching sessions that were conducted over the last two months. Nearly 450 higher education professionals from all parts of the country participated in these workshops and coaching sessions in Da Nang, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. They focused on academic leadership and how to assess student learning, evaluation tools, and curriculum. The series also included a forum for administrators and faculty to share experiences and challenges encountered while preparing for international accreditation from agencies like ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance and the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. So What? As USAID works with Vietnam to reform its higher education system, training qualified professionals to measure student learning outcomes and instructional quality will lead to accreditation and ultimately international recognition for Vietnamese educational institutions.
