USAID Maternal and Child Health programs currently focus on 25 countries that represent more than 66% of maternal and child deaths. Since 2008, we've transitioned out of health programs in 26 countries in order to focus our work in places where we can have the greatest impact. The 25 priority countries were chosen based on the magnitude and severity of maternal and child deaths, country commitment, USAID Mission capacity, and potential opportunity to integrate programs and leverage investments.
