The Bureau for Conflict Prevention and Stabilization’s Program Office (CPS/PO) provides oversight, guidance, coordination, and support on management, strategy, communications, budget, program, and policy issues for the CPS Bureau. The CPS/PO works closely with Bureau leadership and offices to further the Bureau’s priorities and objectives.
BUREAU SUPPORT
The CPS/PO facilitates core budget formulation, operational planning, performance management, policy and regulatory interpretation and compliance, and coordinates communications and public affairs for the Bureau. The CPS/PO works to ensure coherence between Bureau and Agency strategic priorities and preserve flexibility required to carry out core CPS operational mandates.
POLICY
The CPS/PO provides policy support to Bureau leadership and offices to generate and promote a unified CPS approach on key policy issues. The CPS/PO provides technical support and management on the program cycle, acquisition and assistance mechanisms, and Bureau programs as needed. The CPS/PO oversees policies and procedures for capturing results and evaluating overall Bureau program activities and technical assistance to ensure effective CPS engagements.
FLEXIBLE FUNDING
The CPS/PO manages approximately $45 million annually to support cross-cutting CPS and USAID objectives, including:
- Complex Crises Fund resources to support timely, flexible responses to unanticipated crises that threaten U.S. national security interests; and
- Women, Peace, and Security funds that catalyze implementation of the U.S. Strategy on Women, Peace, and Security through support for the empowerment and protection of women and girls affected by crisis, conflict, and violent extremism.
STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS
The CPS/PO provides internal and external communications support and reporting to CPS leadership and offices. CPS/PO develops and executes a Bureau-wide communications strategy and works with CPS leadership and offices to coordinate internal and external outreach, including briefing and communications materials.
COMPLIANCE
The CPS/PO includes the Bureau Environmental Officer (BEO) and Climate Integration Lead. The BEO provides Bureau-wide customer service to ensure adherence to environment- and climate-related regulatory and policy requirements, including tailored environmental safeguards for crisis contexts.
