August 28, 2020

The African continent has been certified FREE of wild poliovirus. USAID is proud to work with our partners that contributed to this accomplishment. USAID provided 50 ventilators to Kosovo to help provide life-saving care to those fighting COVID-19. USAID also delivered a second shipment of ventilators to the people of El Salvador. This week we marked Women's Equality Day. USAID is proud to work every day on strengthening women's rights and political participation throughout the world.

August 21, 2020

USAID provided 200 brand-new ventilators to Nigeria to support its fight against COVID-19. USAID provided 50 ventilators to the Pacific Islands: 30 to Fiji, 10 to Nauru, and 10 on their way to Kiribati. This donation will help these countries be prepared against COVID-19. USAID provided 200 ventilators to Bolivia, working late into the night to deliver this life-saving medical equipment to the Bolivian people. USAID continues to work with the American University of Beirut and the Lebanese Red Cross to distribute hygiene supplies following the Beirut explosions.

August 14, 2020

Acting Administrator John Barsa met USAID staff and partners in Lebanon who are responding to the humanitarian crisis. The U.S. is providing more than $18 million in assistance, bringing total U.S. humanitarian assistance in Lebanon to $594 million since October 2018. Many thanks to the U.S. Department of Defense for transporting USAID emergency medical supplies to Lebanon for 60,000 people for six months. This week, America delivered 250 new state-of-the-art ventilators to Egypt. USAID is proud to deliver 50 ventilators to help Mozambique's fight against COVID-19.

August 7, 2020

USAID is providing emergency assistance including critical health and humanitarian support to Lebanon. This week, America delivered 250 new state-of-the-art ventilators and other critical care equipment to Ethiopia. Ecuador received their second shipment of 200 ventilators, fulfilling a promise made by the American government. USAID, along with the Uzbekistani Republican Informational Educational Center, also known as "INTILISH," announced the launch of a new $1 million USAID-funded "End Tuberculosis Uzbekistan" activity.

July 31, 2020

This week, America donated 40 ventilators to Papua New Guinea, 100 ventilators to Indonesia, 100 ventilators to Rwanda, and a second shipment of 100 ventilators to Pakistan in our global response to COVID-19. USAID and UNICEF are partnering to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the Central African Republic. 40,000 people received emergency water, latrines, and hand washing services.
