December 18, 2020

USAID delivered $20 million in wheat to the Sudanese people in response to historic floods and COVID-19.  USAID is providing $100 million to help the people of Madagascar during a devastating drought. In Sierra Leone, USAID is installing handwashing stations to help fight COVID-19. USAID and Read Haiti partner with community radio stations to develop education programs during COVID-19 school closures.

December 11, 2020

USAID and WFP are providing emergency food to more than 12,000 Ethiopian refugees fleeing from the Tigray region in Ethiopia. USAID announced a new partnership with the Alliance to End Plastic Waste. 40 companies have committed to invest $1.5 billion towards solutions to end plastic waste. USAID, with International Medical Corps & Save the Children International, provided hygeine kits to communities in Afghanistan to combat COVID-19. USAID is working with Global Communities in Honduras to repair houses damaged by hurricanes Iota and Eta. USAID signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the nation of Qatar.

December 4, 2020

USAID announced an additional $30 million for Central America in response to Hurricanes Eta and Iota. On World AIDS Da, USAID commemorated our work and success in 50 countries to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic. USAID has partnered with Tajikistan and Pamir Energy to open the highest-elevation solar power plant in the world. USAID is supporting ventilator installation and training for health workers at Vietnam's National Lung Hospital. 

November 20, 2020

In response to Hurricane Iota & Hurricane Eta, USAID is providing $17M in life-saving aid and deployed its Disaster Assistance Response Team to Central America. The United States is providing an additional $18M to support medical oxygen systems as part of the COVID-19 response. Acting Deputy Administrator Barsa met with H.E. Abdulaziz Kamilov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan. USAID delivered 100 ventilators to Bangladesh. And another 100 ventilators to Nepal to assist with its response to COVID-19.

November 13, 2020

Acting Deputy Administrator Barsa met with Ecuador Foreign Minister Lubegach to discuss U.S. support for Ecuador. USAID is providing $200,000 in emergency assistance to the Philippines as they respond to super typhoon Goni. USAID disaster assistance teams are on the ground in the DR Congo supporting Ebola relief efforts. On Veterans Day, USAID extended its gratitude to all who have served our country.
