Back-to-back hurricanes have unleashed heavy winds, rain, and severe flooding and landslides across Central America. On November 3, Hurricane Eta made landfall as a powerful Category 4 storm. Just two weeks later Hurricane Iota, a Category 5 storm at its strongest, traveled the same path through the region. On November 17, USAID deployed a Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) to lead the U.S. Government’s humanitarian response.

Nearly $48 million in humanitarian assistance allocated to support aected communities in Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Colombia.

More than 340 rolls of plastic sheeting will provide emergency shelter assistance for more than 17,000 people

This elite team is on the ground conducting assessments, identifying humanitarian needs, and working with humanitarian partners and aected governments to deliver immediate aid.

  • 364 Missions to transport aid and response staff
  • 257 Metric Tons of food, water, hygiene kits, and other relief supplies delivered
