March 13, 2020

USAID continues its response to COVID-19, providing personal protective equipment to Thailand and the Kyrgyz Republic. Administrator Green testified before the Senate Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs about the fragility of the Sahel Region of Africa. D.A. Glick met with the Board of Directors of Millennium Water Alliance to discuss their partnership with USAID. Administrator Green stood up a COVID-19 Task Force to coordinate USAID's response to the global pandemic.

March 6, 2020

USAID distributed personal protective equipment to designated hospitals across Nepal to prepare for any potential spread of the coronavirus. Administrator Green testified before the House Committee on Appropriations about USAID's 2021 budget. D.A. Glick met with the American Foreign Service President Eric S. Rubin to discuss Foreign Service hiring and hear about AFSA's priorities. USAID announced an additional $10 million in funding to combat locusts in east Africa.

February 28, 2020

Administrator Green and D.A. Glick attended the first USAID Deputy Mission Directors Conference. They stressed how vital Deputy Mission Directors are for the success of the agency's reforms. Administrator Green met with Admiral Philip Davidson, Commander of Indopacific Command, to discuss USAID's Asia strategy. D.A. Glick met with GAVI CEO, Dr. Seth Berkley, to discuss USAID's continued partnership. D.A. Glick spoke about cultural diversity at the 2020 USAID African American History Month commemorative program.

February 21, 2020

Administrator Green attended the Munich Security Conference speaking about current USAID priorities, like democracy and countering malign authoritarian influence. While in Germany Administrator Green met with GAVI, and discussed USAID's commitment to making vaccines accessible to lower income countries. In Tunisia, he met with Libyan representatives who spoke about their activities supporting democracy, peace-building, indigenous rights, women's rights, and countering hate speech. Administrator Green visited the Great Mosque of Kairouan in Tunisia. The ancient mosque is one of the largest Islamic monuments in North Africa.

February 20, 2020

Administrator Green spoke at the one-year anniversary of Women's Global Development and Prosperity Initiative. Administrator Green discussed President Trump's proposal for USAID's 2021 budget with the media. U.S. Ambassador to Laos, Dr. Peter M. Haymond, handed over personal protective equipment from USAID to the Laotian Vice Minister of Health in response to the coronavirus outbreak. DA/AID Bonnie Glick met with the First Lady of Ecuador, Mrs. Rocío González de Moreno, to discuss USAID's work in Ecuador and opening a new office there next month.
