HANOI, July 9, 2020 -- Yesterday, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Vietnam Office for Seeking Missing Persons (VNOSMP) signed a Memorandum of Intent (MOI) to support DNA analysis of unidentified human remains recovered from the U.S.-Vietnam war. Under this agreement, USAID will provide Vietnam with the best, cutting edge technology for DNA extraction and analysis, work with Vietnam to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of their laboratories, and ultimately increase the number of remains that can be accurately reunited with their families. The signing ceremony was attended by U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Daniel J. Kritenbrink, USAID/Vietnam Mission Director Michael Greene, USAID/Vietnam Deputy Mission Director Craig Hart, Vietnam’s First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Bùi Thanh Sơn, and VNOSMP Director Lê Chí Dũng.
HANOI, June 22, 2020 -- The National Single Window (NSW) is a one-stop shop for customs clearances and is expected to simplify import/export administrative procedures in accordance with international practices and standards. From September 2019 - March 2020, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through its Trade Facilitation Program, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), and the General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDVC) conducted a survey to measure the level of satisfaction amongst businesses in doing administrative procedures via the NSW. The survey analysis and recommendations are expected to foster the substantive reforms of all government ministries which currently process administrative procedures through the NSW by reducing costs, shortening processing times, and improving overall efficiency.
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, June 22, 2020 – Today, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) awarded a $4.65 million grant to Fulbright University Vietnam (FUV). The award signing ceremony, hosted at FUV’s Crescent Plaza campus, was attended by U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Daniel J. Kritenbrink, USAID/Vietnam Mission Director Michael Greene, and FUV President Đàm Bích Thủy. This new two-year assistance grant to FUV follows a successful USAID grant of $7.2 million from 2017 to 2020.
Today, U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Daniel J. Kritenbrink announced that the U.S. Government, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), will be providing an additional $5 million to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Vietnamese economy. BIEN HOA CITY, DECEMBER 5, 2019 -- Today, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Vietnam’s Air Defense Air Force Command (ADAFC), the Ministry of National Defense, and the National Action Center for Chemical and Environmental Treatment (NACCET) celebrated the commencement of dioxin remediation operations at Bien Hoa Airbase and the signing of an agreement to implement a $65 million program to support persons with disabilities. This significant milestone in the U.S.-Vietnam relationship was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Trương Hòa Bình, Vice Minister of National Defense Senior Lieutenant General Nguyễn Chí Vịnh, U.S. Chargé d’Affaires to Vietnam Caryn R. Today, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Vietnam, together with the Ministry of Finance (MOF) and the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOIT), convened a workshop on international best practices to prevent origin fraud, illegal transshipment, and the evasion of trade remedies. Deputy Director General of the General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDVC) Mr. Mai Xuân Thành chaired the workshop and USAID/Vietnam Mission Director Michael Greene and Vice Minister of Finance Vũ Thị Mai gave opening remarks. The workshop featured presentations from GDVC, MOIT, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, European Anti-Fraud Office, Japan Customs, and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).
