„Really Important“ Card Engages Citizens in Community Development

BELGRADE - On May 20, 2019, the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) launched the „Really Important“ community card as part of the Framework for Giving Project. The community card is an innovative fundraising tool and customer loyalty card that will connect citizens, civil society, and local businesses to help their communities promote charitible giving and solidarity.

BELGRADE – On May 14, 2019, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Rule of Law Project, in cooperation with the Supreme Court of Cassation, the Ministry of Justice, and the Chamber of Public Enforcement Officers, organized a workshop to advance measures that will make enforcement of judgements more efficient and fair—particularly focusing how impending amendments to the Law on Enforcement and Security can contribute to this goal.  Improvements in the rule of law are essential for Serbia to meet its European Union (EU) accession aspirations.

USAID and Ministry of Agriculture Partner to Increase Lending to Agribusinesses

Belgrade - On Monday, May 13, 2019, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Assistant Administrator for Europe and Eurasia, Brock Bierman, and the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Branislav Nedimović signed an Agreement for Cooperation towards establishing a joint loan portfolio guarantee with commercial banks. By covering up to 60 percent of associated losses, the new guarantee will incentivize banks to provide up to $50 million in finance for small and medium sized enterprises in Serbia’s agricultural sector.

USAID Helps Local Communities Achieve Greater Energy Efficiency

Niš - On Sunday, May 12, 2019, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Assistant Administrator for Europe and Eurasia, Brock Bierman, signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with the mayors of Niš, Čačak and Pančevo for a new effort to help these cities’ District Heating Plants become more energy efficient.

With the support of USAID, Happy Honey and other Serbian premium food producers attended the 2018 Fancy Food Show in New York, where they met international distributors and buyers.
