WHAT IS THE MACEDONIAN ELECTORAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY?

Funded through the International Foundation for Electoral Systems, the purpose of this three-year activity is to strengthen North Macedonia’s electoral processes. Programmatic activities are focused on increasing capacities of the State Election Commission and strengthening the elections administration, including the Municipal Election Commissions and Electoral Boards. The program works to increase the capacity of electoral stakeholders to administer the voter register and the electoral process on Election Day.  The longer-term goal is to support overall electoral reform to ensure North Macedonia has a democratic and credible election process that promotes political participation and endures social integration.

EXPECTED RESULTS?

• State Election Commission capacities to conduct well-administered elections are strengthened.
• Various electoral reform options analyzed and discussed with relevant stakeholders.
• Electoral reform process is inclusive and incorporates international best practices and principles.
• Debate among political parties about electoral reform is fostered.
