Since 1993, USAID has nurtured a deep and enduring partnership with the people of Macedonia. Starting from the Agency’s first projects supporting local farmers and building new democratic institutions, USAID programs have touched nearly every aspect of Macedonia’s economy and society over the past quarter century. 

 

Together, in concert with civil society, the private sector, and government, USAID has helped strengthen democratic processes, institutions, and civil society; enhanced competitiveness and helped Macedonia transition from a centrally-planned to a market-based economy; and helped Macedonia work towards building an educational system that is both inclusive and responsive to the needs of a modern workforce.
