USAID/Indonesia’s Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS 2020-2025) outlines USAID’s development engagement in Indonesia and reinforces the United States’ commitment to the U.S. - Indonesia Strategic Partnership. The CDCS goal, “Indonesia is an advanced, just, prosperous, and self-reliant Indo-Pacific partner,” aligns with the goal of the Government of Indonesia’s (GOI) medium-term development plan (RPJMN 2020-2024). By incorporating the GOI’s own language in its CDCS goal, USAID sends a clear signal of support and alignment with Indonesia’s development objectives while highlighting partnership and Indonesian ownership. This goal also underpins USAID’s Policy Framework which places the Journey to Self-Reliance at the forefront of our development cooperation by reorienting our work around fostering Indonesia’s capacity and commitment to plan, finance, and implement solutions to its development challenges. Through its CDCS 2020-2025, USAID/Indonesia reinforces the goal and objectives of the Indo-Pacific Strategy.

To advance its self-reliance goal, the GOI has identified four priority areas for USAID support: government effectiveness; human capital (education and health); inclusive economic growth; and, environmental sustainability. Through partnership in these priority areas, USAID will help Indonesia to realize its full potential as a stable, tolerant democracy that contributes to regional security and serves as a regional and global economic leader. Together, we will address shared challenges, such as emerging pandemic threats and violent extremism.
