In the Kyrgyz Republic, as elsewhere in the world, the government has resorted to quarantine measures in an effort to prevent the spread of the COVID-19. Unfortunately, many families were not able to stock up on food and supplies before the quarantine was enacted. Large families from vulnerable groups have been hit especially hard by lost income due to quarantine measures, leaving many without sufficient access to food.  

This hand hygiene demonstration was conducted during USAID’s MTaPS training for master trainers. The training focused on providing optimized care for infected patients as well as how to limit secondary infections among healthcare workers, other patients, and close contacts.

The U.S. Government announced today that it will support the Government of Kenya’s efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 through an additional $500,000 investment. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) will implement the response in collaboration with Kenya’s Ministry of Health and County Governments.  Today’s announcement brings total U.S. assistance for Kenya’s response to COVID-19 to $1 million.

To help Vietnam respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, USAID recently contributed new resources for laboratory strengthening, in addition to the already existing partnership between USAID and WHO to strengthen laboratories under the Global Health Security Program.

U.S. Provides Additional Php66 Million to Support Philippines COVID-19 Response

The U.S. government has provided an additional Php66 million ($1.3 million) to combat the COVID-19 outbreak in the Philippines, bringing total U.S. government assistance to more than Php203 million ($4 million) to date.

Nilufar Artikova is a lawyer whose daily life consists of helping people in difficult circumstances. Her employer Istiqbolli Avlod (“Youth of the Future”) is a non-government organization (NGO) that provides free legal assistance to vulnerable populations such as migrant workers and victims of human trafficking and domestic violence. Istiqbolli Avlod was awarded a grant in February 2020 through the USAID Legal Reform Program to support their work.
