Over the last few weeks, there has been an ARV shortage in Vietnam. Hence, in order to avoid a stock-out of ARVs during the current COVID-19 pandemic, USAID’s Global Health Supply Chain, Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project helped the Government of Vietnam to facilitate a shipment of ARVs from India. GHSC-PSM worked with counterparts in India to ensure that these ARVs were released after the COVID-19 lockdown limited all transportation.
To address the shortage of PPE in the United States, USAID LinkSME, in close coordination with Government of Vietnam counterparts and business support organizations, is working with the private sector in Vietnam to address gaps in the PPE supply chain. On April 18, USAID LinkSME facilitated air cargo shipments of 810,000 health care worker isolation gowns produced by a Vietnamese manufacturer. USAID LinkSME is supporting follow-on orders and assessing input sources for manufacturers.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) -supported Promoting the Quality of Medicines Plus (PQM+) project is helping Pakistan’s COVID-19 response by implementing two activities that address the shortages of quality hand sanitizers and reduce the presence of substandard ones.
