he U.S. Government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), is continuing its support for vulnerable children in Dakar during the COVID-19 pandemic. USAID is donating much-needed food, sanitation, and hygiene supplies to children sheltering in daaras and the Government of Senegal-sponsored "Welcome Centers" and is helping to reunite young people ages 4 to 16 years old with their families. The support is part of the Ministry of Women, Family, Gender and Child Protection’s plan to reduce the risks facing unaccompanied children in the capital.

U.S. Ambassador to Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu Erin McKee today led the handover ceremonies of medical equipment and commodities to boost the government of Papua New Guinea’s response and mitigation efforts against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Today, the U.S. Embassy, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), released a song entitled “Joy Hobe” to recognize and thank frontline workers who deliver essential services amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the outbreak in March, Bangladeshi frontline workers have been working tirelessly round the clock and risking their own lives, helping people to stay home and prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus disease. This USAID-funded initiative was undertaken by ABC Radio (FM 89.2) as a tribute to these real-life superheroes.
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has awarded $9.9 million through the international non-governmental organization GiveDirectly, in partnership with the Government of Uganda, to deliver cash transfers supporting Ugandans who lost their livelihoods as a result of COVID-19 and necessary public health restrictions.

The United States, through the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and in coordination with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), is distributing Php14.8 million ($300,000) worth of regionally-manufactured personal protective equipment (PPE) to the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) and COVID-19 treatment centers across the Philippines. This latest donation brings overall U.S. government assistance to the Philippines’ COVID-19 response efforts to nearly Php981 million ($19.8 million).
