USAID Provides Ventilators to Fiji, Kiribati, and Nauru to Respond to COVID-19

The U.S. Government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), has donated 50 brand-new, state-of-the-art ventilators to Fiji, Kiribati, and Nauru to assist their fight against COVID-19.

The U.S. Government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), in coordination with the Government of India and the Indian Red Cross Society, donated the second shipment of 100 new, state-of-the-art ventilators to assist India in its fight against COVID-19.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has issued a $4 million grant to the World Food Program (WFP) in Mali to help mitigate the negative effects of COVID-19. The award will provide food assistance to more than 196 thousand food insecure Malians in Kayes, Bamako, Ségou, Mopti, Timbuktu, Taoudeni, Kidal, Ménaka and Gao regions.

Standing their ground against the COVID-19 pandemic, Bangladesh’s midwives and other health workers are going the extra mile to care for people and protect and save lives.  One young champion is 24-year-old Shilpi Rani Bormon.  She has been working as a midwife in the remote Char Chandia Union Health and Family Welfare Center in Feni District’s Sonagazi upazila since 2019.  Every day, she risks becoming infected and continues to provide health services.

Continuing the United States’ support to the Lao PDR in the fight against Covid-19, Acting USAID Laos Country Office Director Patrick Bowers delivered additional supplies to Vice Minister of Health Dr. Phouthone Muangpak at a handover ceremony in Vientiane Capital on August 7.  This new shipment of medical and laboratory supplies, valued at more than USD 170,000, is provided by the United States through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
