Mavluda Davronova, a 22 year old teacher from northern Tajikistan began training as a volunteer to help people in her community who have tuberculosis, a contagious disease.
The USAID Central Asia Support for Stable Societies project is identifying and testing new methods for the prevention of violent extremism (PVE) in Central Asia. The project conducted field and digital research to identify risk and prevention factors for violent extremism. Based on the research results, the project is working closely with civil society organizations (CSOs) in Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan to design and test violent extremism risk reduction pilot programming.
Today, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) launched the tenth annual Central Asia Trade Forum, an international event promoting regional trade and connectivity across Central Asia and beyond. This year’s five-day virtual event includes 100 speakers and 4000 registered participants representing 39 countries including the USA, Afghanistan, Georgia, Germany, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, UAE, UK, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan, among others.
The United States through its Agency for International Development (USAID) in Kazakhstan, announced the procurement of essential laboratory equipment and supplies to support the Government of Kazakhstan’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The supplies were provided through USAID’s Local Health System Sustainability project. This second round of supplies is valued at $1,113,907 and will support both the COVID-19 emergency response in Kazakhstan and longer-term pandemic preparedness capabilities.
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) representatives participated in an inaugural ceremony for the new 220-kilowatt Murghob solar power plant, which will be the largest solar power plant in Tajikistan and the highest solar power plant, by elevation, in the world. The project also includes a hybrid energy storage power plant rated for 180-kilowatt hours.
