The U.S. government through its Agency for International Development (USAID) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) delivered $6.2 million worth of assistance including essential laboratory equipment and supplies to support the Government of Kazakhstan’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
On December 18, the world marks International Migrants Day. To observe this important day, the United States government will launch an online social media campaign to raise awareness about migrants’ rights in Kazakhstan through its Agency for International Development (USAID) Safe Migration in Central Asia activity, implemented by Winrock International.
The U.S. Mission to Kazakhstan, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Future Growth Initiative, and MOST Business Incubator marked the successful completion of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2020 in Kazakhstan. This year, GEW was held from November 16-22.
Today, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) launched the tenth annual Central Asia Trade Forum, an international event promoting regional trade and connectivity across Central Asia and beyond. This year’s five-day virtual event includes 100 speakers and 4000 registered participants representing 39 countries including the USA, Afghanistan, Georgia, Germany, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, UAE, UK, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan, among others.
The United States through its Agency for International Development (USAID) in Kazakhstan, announced the procurement of essential laboratory equipment and supplies to support the Government of Kazakhstan’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The supplies were provided through USAID’s Local Health System Sustainability project. This second round of supplies is valued at $1,113,907 and will support both the COVID-19 emergency response in Kazakhstan and longer-term pandemic preparedness capabilities.
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) representatives participated in an inaugural ceremony for the new 220-kilowatt Murghob solar power plant, which will be the largest solar power plant in Tajikistan and the highest solar power plant, by elevation, in the world. The project also includes a hybrid energy storage power plant rated for 180-kilowatt hours.
The U.S. Embassy’s Chargé d'Affaires John Ginkel participated in an online close-out event celebrating the accomplishments of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)’s Dignity and Rights project, implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The Dignity and Rights project greatly contributed to countering trafficking in persons and promoting the rights of vulnerable migrants in and from Tajikistan. Throughout the event, government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and other partners discussed achievements, lessons learned, and best practices to prevent trafficking in persons and protect the rights of migrants and trafficking survivors.
Today, the United States in partnership with the Central Asian Association of People Living with HIV marked the successful completion of its LEADER for People Living with HIV program funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). Over the past six years, in addition to strengthening service delivery, the program addressed two major obstacles to HIV prevention, care and treatment: stigma and discrimination.
Today, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) announced the winners of the three-day Startup Ecosystem Program Competition, held jointly by the USAID Enriching Youth for Tomorrow project, the USAID Future Growth Initiative, and the Union of Economists of Turkmenistan.
