September 26, Gyumri - The Gallery of Mariam and Eranuhi Aslamazyan Sisters opened its Museum Shop (at 232 Abovyan Street, Gyumri) - together with USAID/Armenia’s My Armenia program and the Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport.

In collaboration with government partners at the national and local levels, as well as hundreds of stakeholders in the tourism sector, My Armenia is boosting Armenia’s economic development through the promotion of cultural heritage-based tourism in the regions.  By training rural-based artists and artisans, tour operators, museums and other stakeholders on topics such as branding and marketing, business design and management, improving visitor experiences and more, My Armenia is helping draw tourists to the regions, improve rural livelihoods and increase museum revenues.

YEREVAN- On May 13, 2020, USAID and the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia signed an amendment to the Development Objective Cooperation Agreement for More Participatory, Effective and Accountable Governance, adding $11.5 million in assistance funding.

YEREVAN – On July 10, 2020, U.S. Ambassador to Armenia, Lynne M. Tracy, helped deliver equipment and furniture to the Tavush region as part of a project to strengthen the field of social work in Armenia.  The three-year project - “Community Level Access and Social Services” (CLASS) - is funded by the United States Agency for International Development and implemented by World Vision Armenia and the Child Development Foundation.

On November 21, U.S. Embassy Chargé d'Affaires Rafik Mansour and USAID/Armenia Mission Director Deborah Grieser met with Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of Armenia Tigran Mukuchyan. The parties discussed U.S. assistance and collaboration with the Government of Armenia ahead of the December 9 parliamentary elections, including the September 2018 signing of an $8 million, four-year agreement to support the integrity of Armenian elections.

On October 22, USAID, the Fund for Armenian Relief, and the Small and Medium Entrepreneurship Development National Center of Armenia (SME DNC) marked the successful completion of the joint irrigation project in Sayat-Nova community in Ararat province. USAID Armenia Mission Director Deborah Grieser, the Minister of Nature Protection of Armenia, Erik Grigoryan, the Governor of Ararat province, Garik Sargsyan, and Sayat-Nova residents attended the opening event.

On October 10, USAID, the Government of Armenia and local partners marked the official opening of three new facilities in Tavush province that will help advance economic development and effective local government in the country’s north. USAID Armenia Mission Director, Deborah Grieser; Armenia’s Deputy Minister of Territorial and Administration Development, Vache Terteryan; Governor of Tavush Vahe Ghalumyan; and representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments, partner organizations, and the local community were in attendance.

This summer, 740,000 visitors from across the United States and around the world experienced Armenian food, craft, music, dance, and folk traditions during the 2018 Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington, DC. Armenia was the first country in the Caucasus region to be featured at the renowned festival in the heart of the U.S. capital. During the ten-day event, through dozens of interactive performances and presentations, 216 participants from the Republic of Armenia and the Armenian-American diaspora taught visitors how to cook, bake, dance, weave, carve, and toast like Armenians.
