PROJECT OVERVIEW
This project focuses on the urgent need for addressing water resources management in western Nepal, a region that is lagging in economic growth, has high prevalence of biodiversity hotspots, and is extremely vulnerable to climate change impacts.
OBJECTIVES
In 2017, USAID's Governance for Inclusive Growth Program and Vietnam’s Ministry of Justice (MOJ) finalized a handbook explaining basic human rights of vulnerable groups; the state’s obligations and current policies concerning their rights; and proceedings and legal services for the exercise and protection of their rights.
On March 8, USAID/Vietnam Mission Director Michael Greene joined Vietnam’s Deputy Defense Minister, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, to attend and deliver remarks at a ceremony marking the establishment of the Office of the National Steering Committee on the Settlement of Post-war Unexploded Ordnance and Toxic Chemical Consequences (Office 701). Deputy Ministry Vinh suggested that the new Office 701 would be particularly focused on public relations efforts. Office 701 will likely replace the Military Science Department as USAID’s focal point on dioxin remediation at Bien Hoa Air Base Area.
On March 6-7, USAID’s Ha Long - Cat Ba Alliance organized a two-day workshop in Ha Long City to discuss the development of new tour programmes and environmentally-responsible itineraries to educate visitors on the biological importance of Ha Long Bay and the Cat Ba Archipelago.
Last week, USAID helped The Light clinic, a civil society organization (CSO) run private clinic, to provide PrEP services in Hanoi for the first time. USAID’s Healthy Markets activity has trained private clinics (like The Light) and public outpatient clinics to promote and provide fee-based PrEP services.
