Vietnam is facing a challenge of how to power its rapidly growing economy in a safe and secure way. On April 12, USAID’s Vietnam Low Emission Energy Program participated in a meeting in Ho Chi Minh City to explore innovative approaches to simplify and expand access to renewable energy in Vietnam.

Launched in 2017, Fulbright University Vietnam (FUV) is the country’s first fully independent non-profit university and aims to bring world-class university standards to Vietnam. USAID support will help FUV build admissions, financial aid, and recruitment offices; design curriculum and technology platforms; and develop student career and campus activity programs.

In 2016 and 2017, USAID’s Governance for Inclusive Growth Program helped the State Audit of Vietnam (SAV) learn from international best practices in developing audit reports. This year, the program continued its support to improve the quality of SAV’s audits of the state budget annual projections.

Last week, USAID’s Sustainable HIV Response from Technical Assistance activity partnered with the governments of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to promote HIV self-testing services for this group.

USAID’s Building University-Industry Learning and Development Through Innovation and Technology (BUILD-IT) Alliance is helping technology and engineering universities in Vietnam reach their goals of achieving ASEAN accreditation or Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) recognition. In March, over 200 faculty members of partner universities in Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City completed a training series on international standard criteria for institutional and program accreditation.
