USAID’s Building University-Industry Learning and Development Through Innovation and Technology (BUILD-IT) Alliance is helping technology and engineering universities in Vietnam reach their goals of achieving ASEAN accreditation or Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) recognition. In March, over 200 faculty members of partner universities in Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City completed a training series on international standard criteria for institutional and program accreditation. The participants are now able to assess the preparedness of their institutions to satisfy the particular requirements of ASEAN and ABET.
So what? As USAID works to create world class models of higher education in Vietnam, the improved capacity in accreditation will improve the quality of higher education programs, creating an opportunity for Vietnam’s university students to compete in the global workforce.
