On March 19, USAID and the Clean Energy Investment Accelerator jointly organized the fourth Renewable Energy Buyers Alliance (REBA) Vietnam meeting in Ho Chi Minh City. The Clean Energy Investment Accelerator is a public-private partnership initiative that addresses barriers to scale clean energy deployment in developing countries, including Vietnam.

Reaching key populations with prevention messages, encouraging them to get HIV testing, and linking them to HIV treatment are important for Vietnam to achieve epidemic control. With the development of digital technology, interaction on social media platforms is increasing dramatically, especially among men who have sex with men (MSM).  Thus, reaching MSM online is an effective approach to introduce them to HIV prevention services.

On March 28, USAID and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) released the PCI 2018 report, which provides an independent, unbiased view on the provincial business environment by surveying over 13,000 firms on a variety of business issues. About 800 participants attended the launch, including U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Daniel J. Kritenbrink, USAID/Vietnam Mission Director Michael Greene, VCCI Chairman Vu Tien Loc, and senior government officials from almost all 63 provinces.

“One Health” provides a coordinated approach to counter emerging infectious disease threats at the interface of animal, human, and environment health.  The approach brings together disciplines such as medicine, veterinary medicine, public health, and environmental and ecosystem health to more effectively address emerging zoonotic infectious disease challenges. On March 10-11, USAID supported a training for 68 health and veterinary staff from Phu Luong and Pho Yen districts in Thai Nguyen province on applying One Health Core Competencies in disease prevention and control.

Building on the national celebration of Vietnam’s first HIV patients to receive antiretroviral (ARV) drugs covered by Social Health Insurance (SHI) that took place in early March, this week, the Vietnam Administration of HIV/AIDS Control (VAAC) and Vietnam Social Security Agency (VSS) launched a national dashboard to track the number of patients receiving ARVs covered by SHI in order to measure the transition process.
