Today, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) handed over 2,000 copies of the “Collection of Legal Documents on the Rights of People with Visual Impairments” in Braille to the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan. The collection contains documents such as the Law on Social Protection of the People with Disabilities and related presidential decrees, as well as a list of available support services to which people with disabilities are entitled. Representatives of the USAID mission to Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Justice took part in the ceremony.
From November 30 to December 4, 2020 more than 80 education professionals participated in a virtual workshop on “Curriculum Development and Review” hosted by the USAID-funded Education for Excellence Program. The workshop fostered a shared understanding and deepening of knowledge and skills on modern curriculum development that are essential to develop, review, pilot and finalize high quality curriculum products, including student standards, textbook scope and sequences, student textbooks and teacher guides.
Today, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) launched the tenth annual Central Asia Trade Forum, an international event promoting regional trade and connectivity across Central Asia and beyond. This year’s five-day virtual event includes 100 speakers and 4000 registered participants representing 39 countries including the USA, Afghanistan, Georgia, Germany, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, UAE, UK, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan, among others.
Today, the United States, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and Uzbekistan, through the Ministry of Health Agency on Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry (Pharm Agency) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to implement the "Promoting the Quality of Medicines Plus" program in Uzbekistan. Rebecca Black, Acting Mission Director for USAID in Uzbekistan, and Sardor Kariev, Director of the Pharm Agency, signed the MOU on behalf of their respective agencies.
Today, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) marked the successful completion of the USAID Agricultural Value Chain activity at a virtual event. The U.S. Ambassador to Uzbekistan Daniel Rosenblum and Uzbekistan’s Minister of Agriculture Jamshid Khodjaev, as well as representatives of USAID Uzbekistan and the international donor community participated in the virtual event. The USAID Agricultural Value Chain activity’s long-term private sector and public sector partners also attended the event and celebrated its achievements.

Today, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Acting Administrator John Barsa announced the establishment of new bilateral USAID Missions in the Republics of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan at an event hosted by the Heritage Foundation. The announcement comes just months after the public launch of the United States Strategy for Central Asia 2019-2025, and is another example of USAID's long-term commitment to the people of Central Asia.
