Today, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Acting Administrator John Barsa announced the establishment of new bilateral USAID Missions in the Republics of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan at an event hosted by the Heritage Foundation. The announcement comes just months after the public launch of the United States Strategy for Central Asia 2019-2025, and is another example of USAID's long-term commitment to the people of Central Asia.
Hasan Nurov is from Navzamin village in Khuroson district, Tajikistan. For generations, Hasan’s family, like many farmers in the district, grew cotton. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has announced a new five-year, $12 million, USAID’s Rural Water Supply activity to provide more equitable access to safe drinking water in unserved and underserved communities in Tajikistan. Through this activity, at least 30,000 people in rural and suburban communities will gain access to safe water.
