Reed J. Aeschliman has assumed duties as the new Mission Director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for Sri Lanka and Maldives this month.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) YouLead program and Microsoft Sri Lanka signed a partnership to launch the new YouthWorks information technology portal at the Ministry of Skills Development and Vocational Training in Colombo today. The portal will provide career guidance, technical and vocational courses, a mentorship platform, job placements, and a variety of other tools to support Sri Lanka’s young job-seekers and entrepreneurs.

Visiting U.S. Department of State Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Daniel Rosenblum opened the Kandy YouLead office on February 2, which will expand employment opportunities for youth in the Central Province.

United States and Sri Lanka launch LKR 306,000,000 ($2 million) HIV/AIDS Technical Assistance Partnership to Fast Track  Efforts to End AIDS in Sri Lanka

On December 8, the Governments of Sri Lanka and the United States launched a two-year HIV/AIDS Technical Assistance Partnership to fast track government efforts to end AIDS by 2025. The U.S. Government’s development agency – U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) - through the President’s Emergency Fund for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), will help to transfer promising solutions, new technical skills and innovations to contribute towards ending AIDS in Sri Lanka.
