The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has been working closely with the Government of Sri Lanka on disaster preparedness and response, to help address and mitigate the loss of lives and property resulting from the increased frequency of flash floods and landslides.
The Governments of Sri Lanka and the United States launched the YouLead! initiative on October 19, a 1.8 billion rupee program funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to support youth employability, vocational skills development, and entrepreneurship. On September 25, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) awarded approximately LKR 97 million ($625,000) to three local organizations to recycle municipal waste in the western coastal belt and Galle district.
This week, USAID brought together Supporting Opportunities in Livelihoods Development project (SOLID) partners from private and public dairy companies to review the project’s successes. On average, beneficiary farms have increased monthly milk production by 27 percent and seen their incomes rise by 35 percent.

DAI, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is announcing a two-step process to select eligible proposals to implement activities that will improve civil society and government engagement on key government policy and reform plans that will result in strengthened democratic governance and accountability in Sri Lanka.
