The United States Government has supported the Government of Kazakhstan’s efforts to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, providing life-saving equipment, laboratory and medical supplies, and technical assistance.

USAID Laos Business Environment, a five-year activity funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), assists the Government of Laos to enhance the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) while strengthening the business environment in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.

USAID works with the Government of Jordan to strengthen the delivery and quality of health, education, and water services throughout the Kingdom in order to ensure the country’s economic stability and security.

UNICEF with USAID support aims at sustainable elimination of Iodine Deficiency Disorders through support for continued Universal Salt Iodization (USI). The emphasis of the support is on the establishment of a rigorous quality control and assurance system by major salt producers and government inspection agencies. The specific project objectives are: 1) Increase availability of adequately iodized salt (>90%) in the market; 2) Improve capacity of salt producers and inspection agencies in internal quality control and assurance system; and 3) Improved supervision and enforcement, monitoring and governance mechanism. The USAID supported interventions would complement and strengthen the USI effort of government organizations (Ministries of Industry, Health, Trade and Economic Development, Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance, and Standard agency (Tajikstandard) and other agencies).

The United States Government has supported the Government of Tajikistan’s efforts to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, providing life-saving equipment, laboratory and medical supplies, technical assistance, and assistance to Tajik migrants in need.

In 2018, the Ministry of Education launched its five-year Education Strategic Plan to ensure that all children and youth can gain the skills and knowledge to succeed in a 21st-century knowledge economy. USAID supports the Government of Jordan as it expands access to quality education for children and youth throughout Jordan and makes sure aspiring teachers have the skills to engage their students and prepare them for lifelong learning.

USAID works with the Government of Jordan to advance the King’s vision for a more stable, prosperous and democratic future by strengthening partnership and collaboration between governing institutions and their constituents to better address local needs.

The Government of Jordan is pursuing reforms to improve the quality of health services available to citizens throughout the Kingdom. USAID works with the Ministry of Health to build self-reliance and advance this effort, fostering healthy communities for a stable and prosperous Jordan.

The U.S. Government leads the globe with $12.5 billion allocated to benefit international COVID-19 response, including commitments for the development of vaccines and therapeutics, preparedness efforts, and foreign assistance.

When women and girls have equal rights and access to resources and services, societies thrive. USAID aims in all its programming in Jordan to reduce gender disparities and empower women and girls to realize their rights, determine their own life goals, and help Jordan build a prosperous, self-reliant future.
