On November 5, 2018, representatives of 50 municipalities from Issyk-Kul, Jalal-Abad, Naryn and Osh regions will convene in Bishkek for the fourth Forum of Aimaks, organized with support from United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Local leaders, state officials, representatives of businesses and international organizations will discuss opportunities for local economic development. The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. – 16:30 p.m. in the Hyatt Regency Hotel (191 Abdrahmanov st).
Under the project, USAID partners with the American University of Central Asia to provide need- and merit-based scholarships to students, enhance research capacity of faculty and students, and facilitate accreditation of the Business Administration program of AUCA. The project supports the unique higher education model in the Kyrgyz Republic based on traditions of a liberal arts education.
On October 17-18, more than 35 businesses and government officials from Kyrgyzstan will participate in the Eighth Annual Central Asia Trade Forum in Tashkent. USAID is sponsoring several businesses to exhibit their products at the Forum, which is co-hosted by USAID and the Government of Uzbekistan.
On September 25, 2018, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) launched a five-year $22.7 million initiative in the Kyrgyz Republic called the Enterprise Competitiveness Project. The launch event in the capital Bishkek was attended by Mr. Dastanbek Dzhumabekov, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Erkinbek Choduev, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Aidin Sharsheev, and State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic who were welcomed by USAID/Kyrgyz Republic Director Gary Linden.
The USAID Enterprise Competitiveness Project is a five-year initiative that increases the income levels of Kyrgyzstani households through the creation of jobs and livelihood opportunities among small and medium enterprises (SMEs). By accelerating an inclusive, market-led growth, the project increases Kyrgyzstani SME competitiveness, facilitates their access to markets, catalyzes investments, builds opportunities for women and youth, and improves the business environment.
