On July 26, Kyrgyz Tourism LLC launched a new horse trekking tour in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The tour runs between two picturesque and popular destinations in Kyrgyzstan: the Suusamyr Valley and Son Kul lake. The tour lasts up to five days and follows expansive and picturesque Kyrgyz pastures including Oi-Kaiyn, Sary-Kol, Ok-Torkoi.
On July 10, Minister of Health Kosmosbek Cholponbaev and USAID Mission Director Gary Linden cemented collaboration between the United States and the Kyrgyz Republic in combating Tuberculosis (TB), an infectious disease that kills about 500 Kyrgystanis annually. A newly-signed Statement of Partnership between the Kyrgyz Republic and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) commits both sides to meeting national level targets in the fight against TB.
On June 27, Kyrgyzstan welcomed the first tourists from Uzbekistan to Issyk-Kul Lake on an inaugural flight from Tashkent to Tamchy. During the 2019 summer holiday season this international charter flight is expected to bring nearly 3,000 tourists. The flight marketing is provided thanks to assistance from the U.S. Government through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), as part of its efforts to strengthen tourism and create jobs in Central Asia.
The implementation of a project called SPRING by USAID between 2014 and 2018 has resulted in a 65% reduction of stunting rates in the Naryn oblast.
The 2018 winners of the Best Exporter of the Kyrgyz Republic were announced on May 6 during a ceremony at the Hyatt Regency in Bishkek. The ceremony was hosted by the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic’s Investment Protection and Promotion Agency and made possible with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
