Kosovare is an active and ambitious woman who managed to prove herself in otherwise male-dominated sector of wood processing. The environment she grew up in, was not very supportive for ambitious girls like herself, but the unparalleled backing of her parents, drove her to move forward to success.
“It’s time for Kosovo’s institutions to take full responsibility for their shortcomings and commit to meaningful change,” concluded Ambassador Kosnett during his visit to the Kosovo National Audit Office (KNAO). The Ambassador’s speech on March 19 marked the official launch of the KNAO’s Anti-Fraud Unit.
Public procurement reforms have impacted business growth in a major way, noted Peja-based business owners at a roundtable with Ambassador Kosnett on March 12. At the event, participants discussed the positive trends associated with reforms, including more transparent processes, and expressed the need for more accountability and civil society engagement at central and local levels.
Transforming teaching is at the forefront of USAID’s Transformational Leadership Program – Scholarship and Partnerships activity. In partnership with the University of Pristina, USAID celebrated the certification of the last cohort of trainers at the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) at the University of Pristina on March 18.
Women in Kosovo, especially those living in rural areas, face challenges in accessing justice-sector resources and information. To help women learn more about their rights and how to access free legal aid services, USAID supported a town hall meeting on March 13 in Gorazdevac, a village in Peja largely inhabited by members of the Bosniak community.
