Publication of court judgments in Kosovo has doubled, marking a real breakthrough for the judiciary as the courts become more transparent about their decisions. Increased transparency has been proven to increase public trust in the justice system. A USAID-sponsored monitoring report shows courts are publishing on average 1,000 judgments per month on the Kosovo Judicial Council (KJC) website, noting a 120 percent increase over 2018 where courts published on average 450 judgments per month.

A society can progress only when the entire population, men and women alike, are fully engaged.  In Kosovo, women face many challenges with more than 80 percent of women inactive in the labor force; of the remaining women who are active, the unemployment rate is 37 percent.  As entrepreneurs, women represent only 10 percent of business owners and own mostly micro and small businesses.  USAID activities are geared toward building the capacities of women entrepreneurs and creating conditions that will help women engage and thrive in the economy.  More specifically, the activities help women w

The World Bank, in the recently published Doing Business Report 2020, ranked Kosovo 57th with a 2.2 percent improvement toward international best practice (score).  The report recognized Kosovo for significant reforms in four specific areas—all areas where USAID has contributed with its partners.
