Important guidebooks available to Kosovo judiciary

Pristina, May  13 , 2019 –   Last  week, USAID launched the much needed Civil Litigation Manual.  It provides practical information to assist judges move civil cases from submission to resolution, without delays, in a fair and timely manner. The Manual is designed by project experts and judges and combines technical guidance with practical advice and examples.

Additionally, USAID published the Compilation of the Supreme Court’s Judicial Practice in Property Rights Disputes.  Kosovo is still in need of uniform court practices across the country to build confidence in the justice sector and the publication of the Manual and the Compilation will help strengthen uniformity of courts pracitices to build trust in the judiciary. Credibility in the justice system is needed not only for fairness, but for Kosovo to prosper economically.

The manuals were distributed in hard copy to the judges as a reference tool. They are also published on the KJC and Supreme Court websites in an easily searchable digital format, in both Albanian and Serbian languages, so that all legal practitioners, including other court staff, legal associates, and lawyers have access to them.

The publication of these guidebooks  was a joint effort of two USAIDactivities- the Justice System Strengthening Program and the Property Rights Program. The guidebooks can be downloaded at:
