U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires, Ambassador Ross Wilson; USAID Mission Director, Peter Wiebler; and Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Nodar Kereselidze, met representatives of leading Georgian agribusinesses to announce the launch of the new USAID Agriculture Program.

This new program will mobilize past USAID partners, leading Georgian agribusinesses, to share the knowledge and skills they have gained with up-and-comers in the field.  Coupling this technical assistance with co-financing from USAID, this program will create 3,000 new jobs, increase sales by 60 million USD and leverage over 7 million USD of increased investments from the private sector.

USAID’s new program will closely work with Georgian Government and Georgia’s agribusiness leaders to create more rural jobs, improve rural livelihoods and advance Georgia’s sustainable economic growth and development.

The U.S. government is proud to partner with the Government of Georgia and the Georgian private sector and we look forward to success through the new USAID Agriculture Program.
