Wheelchair user Natia Chikhladze was injured in 2013. With just basic wheelchair skills and unprepared for her life in a wheelchair, she had difficulties leaving the house and functioning in a world not designed for people with disabilities.

New rehabilitation and independent living skills camps ensure that wheelchair users like Natia can become more independent. She has learned new techniques to help her carry out the basic activities of daily living. Participating in sports such as archery have helped develop muscle strength. She has also developed mobility skills to give her independence.

“I see my life from a different perspective, I have learned a lot and now that I’ve gained confidence, I’m determined to challenge my isolation and exclusion from the community!”

These camps are conducted by the Coalition for Independent Living, under the USAID.
