Mission Director

Fernando Cossich is the Mission Director of the U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Mission in Honduras since July 2017. Before joining the Honduras Mission, Mr. Cossich was the Paraguay Mission Director. Previously, he also served as Deputy Mission Director in Pakistan, Division Chief in the Bureau for Europe and Eurasia and Senior Development Advisor to the European Command in Stuttgart, Germany.

He is a member of the U.S. Government’s Senior Foreign Service with 26 years of experience with USAID. He has served in a number of countries, ranging from war torn countries to rapidly growing open economies. Among others, he has served in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Afghanistan, Colombia, Iraq, Pakistan and the Caucasus. Mr. Cossich has managed support operations in high-threat environments, recruited staff and developed infrastructure to facilitate rapid implementation.

Mr. Cossich has a B.S. in Civil Engineering, a M.S. in National Resource Strategy from the National Defense University and is the proud father of four children.
