The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is supporting a private Turkmen logistics company, Shaylan Economic Society, to fully digitize all its warehouse and transportation management systems. Shaylan is a warehouse and distribution pioneer in Turkmenistan operating warehouses, cold storage facilities and a fleet of refrigerated trucks.
Today, the United States celebrated the completion and achievements of the Dignity and Rights program. This program, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Kazakhstan, focused on combating the international scourge of trafficking in persons and on promoting migrants’ rights. During the closeout event government agencies, NGOs, and other partners discussed achievements, lessons learned, and best practices to protect the rights of migrants and trafficking survivors.
East Kazakhstan is one of the largest regions in the country. It is rich with pristine natural beauty, mineral resources and thriving industries. It is also home to the highest number of prisons and people who inject drugs; both associated with increased HIV risk as well as decreased treatment retention. As of July 31, 2020 nearly 3,200 people living with HIV were registered and only 70 percent of those had received treatment. In March 2020, the local Narcology Center reported that there are around 3,500 injecting drug users. In reality, there are even more, since people avoid registering at the medical facilities due to the stigma associated with it.
Today, the United States through its Agency for International Development (USAID) announced the launch of a new initiative, “Central Asia: Region Full of Opportunities” that will be implemented by MOST Business Incubator, with the support of USAID’s Future Growth Initiative.
The USAID-funded C5+1 National and Regional Adaptation Planning activity seeks to increase the capacity of Central Asian countries to engage in climate change adaptation planning. The United States provides technical assistance to key stakeholders and coordinates with development assistance partners to support each country’s national and cross-border adaptation planning process under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
