October 8, 2020, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan - The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is supporting a private Turkmen logistics company, Shaylan Economic Society, to fully digitize all its warehouse and transportation management systems. Shaylan is a warehouse and distribution pioneer in Turkmenistan operating warehouses, cold storage facilities and a fleet of refrigerated trucks.

Shaylan seeks to strengthen Turkmenistan’s transit potential by offering streamlined logistics services to foreign traders. An important step towards expanding its range of logistics services and improving operational efficiency is to enhance the company’s entire management information system. USAID’s Competitiveness, Trade and Jobs activity manages an innovation facility which co-financed the procurement of Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP), warehouse management and transport management software with Shaylan. The company hopes efficiencies created by the new system will help to increase annual revenue by more than thirty percent in the second half of 2021.

Shaylan’s CEO, Mr. Soyunhanov said, “We are proud to partner with the USAID Competitiveness, Trade and Jobs activity and embark upon the implementation of this ambitious IT project. This is just the start of our investment – we are planning to expand our range of services and online customer access to attract foreign traders to take advantage of Turkmenistan’s geographic location.”

The USAID innovation facility is co-financing innovative ideas in horticulture, transport and logistics, and tourism that will enhance revenue and create new jobs at competitively selected companies through the five-year USAID Competitiveness, Trade and Jobs activity in Central Asia
