Shaheed Rabbani Education University (SREU) hosted an official graduation ceremony to recognize a cohort of 24 students, including four women, who are receiving a Master of Education degree.
The second annual four-day “Passage to Prosperity: India-Afghanistan International Trade and Investment Show” opened today in Mumbai, India. Sponsored by the United States government through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) the international forum is designed to showcase Afghan business and investment opportunities and bolster trade.
Kabul University of Medical Sciences (KUMS) hosted an official graduation ceremony to recognize the first cohort of 25 graduates, including five women, who are receiving a Biomedical Equipment Technology Associate Degree (BMET).
USAID is supporting the second annual “Passage to Prosperity (P2P): India - Afghanistan International Trade and Investment Show” which will kick-off in Mumbai, India on September 12, 2018. The trade show will serve as a platform for international traders and investors to connect with Afghan sellers for a range of products and services, including agriculture, textiles, gems and jewelry, education, healthcare and energy.
U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Director Herbie Smith and the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) Minister Naseer Durrani launched two new value chain projects to improve Afghanistan’s agricultural sector. The main objectives of the programs are to drive job creation and increase rural incomes through support to key actors along the livestock and high value crops value chains. These programs will: (1) generate revenue and sustainable jobs; (2) increase the capacity of key value chain businesses; and (3) facilitate the ability of businesses to sell high quality products both domestically and internationally.
Afghan traders signed US$68 million worth of deals for high-value agricultural products, such as pomegranates, saffron, apples, apricots, melons, grapes, nuts, and cherries, as a result of their participation at a recent trade mission in New Delhi.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) and chancellors from 11 Afghan public universities, USAID held a one-day University Chancellors’ Forum today under the USAID-funded University Support and Workforce Program (USWDP). The forum focused on the role of Afghan universities and institutions of higher learning as centers of knowledge and academic excellence, as well as safe spaces that help shape the future of Afghanistan.
U.S. Ambassador John R. Bass today launched the second annual “Passage to Prosperity: India-Afghanistan Trade and Investment Show,” scheduled to take place in Mumbai September 12-15, 2018. Organized by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), today’s launch was aimed at stimulating interest in and sharing information about the September event. More than 200 Afghan government officials and business representatives, international donors, NGO partners, members of the diplomatic corps, and foreign mission commercial attachés attended the event.
U.S. Ambassador John R. Bass and H.E. Dr. Abdullah Abdullah today acknowledged the achievements of more than 1,500 women activists and 190 civil society organizations working to empower women across Afghanistan, honoring two years of accomplishments by beneficiaries of the USAID-funded Promote Musharikat program. Promote is a partnership between the government of Afghanistan and USAID to secure the gains in women’s empowerment realized over the last decade.
