Sharon Lee Cromer, a member of the Senior Foreign Service, class of Career Minister, is currently the Mission Director for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in Ghana. Ms. Cromer also served as USAID’s Mission Director in Tanzania (2013-2017), Nigeria (2007-2009), and Ghana (2002-2007) as well as Deputy Mission Director in Indonesia (1998-2002). She held key Washington positions, including Senior Development Assistant Administrator, Bureau for Africa (2010-2013) and Deputy Assistant Administrator, Bureau for Management (2009 -2010).  She assumed interim roles as acting Chief Human Capital Officer, Office of Human Capital and Talent Management (2015-2016) and acting Assistant Administrator, Bureau of Democracy, Conflict, and Humanitarian Assistance (2009).  Ms. Cromer joined USAID in 1986. Her early overseas assignments included Pakistan (1988-1990), Ivory Coast (1990-1991), and Senegal (1991-1996). Ms. Cromer earned a Bachelor of Arts from Barnard College at Columbia University and a Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University.
