Scott Hocklander
Mission Director, USAID Moldova

Mr. Scott Hocklander is the new Mission Director for the US Agency for International Development Mission in Chisinau, Moldova. 

Prior to assuming the post, Mr. Hocklander served as the Deputy Mission Director in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and as the Director of the Office of Democracy and Governance in Afghanistan, the Office of Economic Growth and Agriculture in Pakistan, and the Office of Assets and Livelihoods in Transition Office in Ethiopia. He also worked for USAID’s Office of US Foreign Disaster Assistance, Office of Food for Peace, and Office of Transition Initiatives serving on disaster response teams in Kenya, Ethiopia, Sudan, Sri Lanka, and the Caribbean.

Mr. Hocklander began his career with the federal government in 1995 with the US Department of Agriculture serving on a US Forest Service “Hotshot” firefighting crew and as a smokejumper fighting wildland fires for the US Department of the Interior in Alaska. He also spent two years in Washington, DC with the International Programs of the US Forest Service. 

A native of Gooding, Idaho, Mr. Hocklander attended the American University in Bulgaria, received a B.S. in Political Science from Willamette University, and holds an M.A. in Development Studies from George Washington University.
