Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, July 6, 2020 – On July 2, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) launched a hotline for Turkmen producers of fresh fruits and vegetables to facilitate export of their products.

Hosted by the USAID Competitiveness, Trade and Jobs activity in Central Asia, the export advisory hotline will provide essential information about the export of horticultural goods to foreign markets. The advisory services will be provided via email and telephone. The hotline will be available from July - October 2020 with the possibility of an extension subject to demand for the service.

The hotline is designed to enable nascent exporters to navigate the complicated rules of foreign markets and equip them with the best marketing practices to increase their competitiveness. The advice will include how to utilize export promotion tools, export horticultural goods to various markets (e.g. Europe, the Middle-East and South-East Asia), sort and package goods to meet international standards, and address phytosanitary requirements.

By helping Turkmen farmers realize their export potential, USAID helps maximize their revenues, stabilize seasonal sales, and expand the markets for quality Turkmen products.

The USAID Competitiveness, Trade and Jobs activity is helping Central Asian countries increase export-driven growth by supporting a more diverse and competitive private sector and helping firms increase trade and employment.
