Abdukarim Muzaffarov began working in the family dairy processing business, also called Muzaffarov in 2014, when he was 26. Muzaffarov is a small enterprise based in the Panj district of southern Tajikistan, just north of the Afghanistan border, and was established by his father, a local entrepreneur, Muzaffarov Safarbek, in 2011.

Acting Country Director of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in Tajikistan Ms. Katherine Owens, and World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office Head, Dr. Galina Perfilieva, handed over personal protective equipment to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan at a ceremony in Dushanbe today as part of the United States’ assistance to Tajikistan to prepare for any potential spread of the novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19.

With misinformation increasingly spread through digital media, the USAID-funded Access to Information (A2I) Program is committed to helping audiences in Central Asia understand how to discern true information from false. As young people most actively use digital media for communication and information consumption, they are a key target group.

In February and March 2019, the Access to Information program partnered with U.S. Embassies and the American Corners in Kazakhstan and Tajikistan to deliver a training of trainers to volunteer citizens. The goal was to develop a pool of young media literacy trainers who could then provide practical sessions on media and digital literacy, critical thinking, and fact-checking exercises to interested audiences in their home communities.

USAID and Eurasia Foundation Partner to Strengthen Civil Society in Central Asia

Today, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) officially launched the Civil Society Support Program in Central Asia, which will be implemented by Eurasia Foundation (www.eurasia.org). The five-year, $18 million initiative will support citizens of Central Asia to cultivate a vibrant and responsive civil society throughout the region and strengthen a new generation of leaders in the sector.

USAID Fosters Tourism in Tajikistan by Connecting Tourists to Important Cultural and Historical Sites

Today, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Committee of Tourism Development of the Republic of Tajikistan celebrated the installation of road signs to help connect tourists to important cultural and historical sites in Tajikistan.  As Tajikistan seeks to expand its tourism industry, it is important to help tourists find Tajikistan’s many natural, cultural, and historical attractions.
