From February to June 2020, Angola carried out for the first time a remote, on-line quantification exercise to support the transition to Tenofovir Lamivudine Dolutegravir (TLD); the new first-line preferred HIV/AIDS treatment regimen.

Angola’s current electrification rates are estimated at 43% in most cities and less than 10% in rural areas.  The Government of Angola has set a target of 9,900 megawatts (MW) of installed generation capacity and a 60% national electrification rate by 2025.  The USAID Southern Africa Energy Program (SAEP), a Power Africa initiative, is providing support to the national electricity distribution company, Empresa Nacional de Distribuição de Electricidade (ENDE) and the national electricity transmission company, Empresa Rede Nacional de Transporte de Electricidade (RNT) as they tackle these electrification challenges and build a stable, connected transmission network.

This program provides technical assistance to strengthen Angolan public sector capacity in planning, preparation and implementation of more transparent budgets.  This Public Financial Management training program was developed collaboratively with the Ministry of Finance and is carried out jointly with the recently created GRA’s training school “Escola Nacional de Administração e Políticas Públicas – ENAPP”. The program objective is to strengthen public financial management systems in Angola.

The USAID’s Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) project in collaboration with National Institute of Statistics (INE) and the Ministry of Health (MoH) in Angola will implement the population-based health survey, entitled “ Inquérito de Indicadores Múltiplos e de Saúde” (IIMS)”.
