The U. S. Agency for International Development (USAID) works to build a stable and economically viable Haiti.
Widespread deforestation is a critical concern in Haiti and poses a serious threat to the lives of Haitian citizens. This deforestation has led to flooding, dramatic rates of soil erosion, and subsequent declines in agricultural productivity.
The January 2010 earthquake in Haiti displaced millions, and killed or injured hundreds of thousands. Since 2010, USAID has provided relief, recovery, reconstruction, and long-term development assistance.
