U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Mark Green will travel to the Republic of Haïti and Barbados from December 12-16, 2019, to underscore the United States' continuing commitment to the people of the Caribbean.
From December 12-14, Administrator Green will visit Haïti to meet with key elected officials and stakeholders to encourage a speedy resolution to the current political gridlock in the country, see USAID-funded projects in Northern Haiti, and meet with representatives of the local private sector and faith-based organizations. From December 15-16, the Administrator will meet with officials from the Government of Barbados and visit USAID's programming meant to reduce the risk of disasters, build local resilience, and create productive pathways for at-risk youth in Bridgetown.
USAID's Assistant Administrator for Latin America and the Caribbean, John Barsa, will accompany the Administrator for the Haïti portion of the trip.
