She applied for a USAID-sponsored education scholarship that offered extensive financial support. She was accepted, and Hadia quickly found her feet among new surroundings in India where she is pursuing a master’s degree in business administration at Amity University, New Delhi.
In rural eastern Afghanistan, home-based agricultural processing is a reliable means for widowed women to support their families. However, these women often operate in the shadow economy with inefficient methods of processing and absent food safety standards and protocols.
